The Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup has commenced the process of rating the safety of its road network using WALGA’s LG Stars tool, with 974.37km of its road network entered into the tool.

The LG Stars tool is designed to provide Local Governments with an assessment and understanding of the safety standard of local roads to assist and support the inclusion of road safety considerations in long-term works programs and investment decisions.

The Shire has commenced analysing its roads to develop a comprehensive picture of the safety standard of the network. This activity supports identification of treatment options and provides an objective view of the safety of local roads, providing insights that will guide decision-making through informed strategic prioritisation of roads for safety. Understanding priority roads for road safety improvement supports works programming and helps to justify decisions to allocate resources, focusing on the most critical road safety issues.

Through the utilisation of data collected from LG Stars, the Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup’s road network will move to a safe system standard, reducing the opportunity for crashes that result in killed or serious injuries and aligning with Vision Zero.
