WALGA’s Road Safety Advisors have been engaging and working with 72 RoadWise Councils on planning, implementing and monitoring local road safety actions aimed at improving road safety outcomes.
While working on these actions, to ensure better practice road safety is being adopted and applied, and guide further activity, some time was also taken to reflect and celebrate on the 430 reported local road safety actions delivered by RoadWise Councils during the 2023-24 year. In addition to this, the Advisors were able to present the RoadWise Councils with plaques to acknowledge thank those Local Governments for making a commitment to road safety by registering as a RoadWise Council.
During 2023-24, sixty RoadWise Councils delivered local actions from the functional areas (relevant to road safety) within the role and responsibility of Local Governments, resulting in these Councils achieving a Ribbon status to reflect their adoption of a holistic approach to road safety.
Three of these RoadWise Councils were also acknowledged as being ‘most active’ by collectively recording 75 activities delivered to improve road safety outcomes for their communities.
Congratulations, to all RoadWise Councils for your continued support in working towards delivering best practice road safety and ensuring we can effectively reduce killed and serious injury crashes on the locally managed road network.
