The outgoing Chair of the Albany RoadWise Committee, Alan Hortin was recognised for his commitment and dedication to Road Safety with a Certificate of Recognition. The award was presented to Alan at the October 2022 Working Group Meeting by the City of Albany Manager of Infrastructure and Sustainability Ruth March.
Alan joined the City of Albany RoadWise Committee in 2012 as an elected member, a role he held until 2015. Alan continued his membership on the RoadWise Committee as a community representative after this and in 2017 Alan was elected Chair of the Committee and fulfilled this role for 5 years until announcing his retirement in 2022.
While speaking to the ABC Radio about his retirement from the committee after 10 years, Alan said the highlight of his time were the Easter Road stops. In the lead up to Easter the Committee, led by the Police would create a road stop on the Albany Highway near Millbrook Road. The Police would operate a random breath test while the Committee members handed out Easter eggs and talked to drivers about the risks of fatigue.
We would like to thank Alan for his commitment and dedication to improving road safety in Albany and wish him the very best for his retirement and the many projects he has planned.
